About UnMarketing

Scott Stratten founded UnMarketing in 2002 on the belief that we can build a better business world based on integrity, community, and authenticity.

It began with a call to step away from hypocritical marketing practices, the ones we use even though we hate them ourselves (ahem...cold calling) and instead build community and connection. Position ourselves as experts, solve problems for our clients/customers, and treat everyone we work with - from our front line to our suppliers - with respect and integrity.

Read the definition of “UnMarketing” on the front page.

Together, Scott and Alison have taught their better business practices to thousands of people worldwide. They are co-authors of 6 best-selling business books and co-hosts of not only The UnPodcast but five children, two dogs, and a cat. The fact that The UnPodcast has over a million downloads and their videos have been viewed millions of times does not impress those pets at all.

They were put on this earth to remind the world that not all Canadians are passively polite. Businesses like PepsiCo, Saks Fifth Avenue, IBM, Remax, Microsoft and many others have been brave enough to want their advice.

Oh, and they met on Twitter. How’s that for ROI?
