They're anxious and 'putting on a nothing is wrong' face for the sake of each other, but they're been separated too long just be easy going about it... That said, as much as I don't get the impression of all the innuendo about 'bad times' everyone else gets, I still think it's a poorly done commercial simply because it doesn't deliver the feel it's going for. This isn't the first commercial about parent / child reuiniting out there... So I'm pretty sure the concept is entirely doable. Though I can't off the top of my head think of the others. I want to guess it was a father / son Tim Hortons commercial. To be honest, it seemed perfectly realistic to me.
